Avoid Distractions
By Oswaldo Koch
Do you have certain tasks
nagging at the back of your mind you know must be completed,
but keep putting off for no apparent reason? Very few
people are endowed with the mental concentration that
allows them to cut through clutter and get the job done.
Most of us are overwhelmed by trivial distractions.
We spend our days reacting to the urgent but often unimportant
priorities of others. We spend most of our time putting
out fires.
Every day you should focus on your personal goals and
the activities that will define you, advance your career,
and maintain your passion for improving or learning
new skills. Distraction is a habit. It's what is known
as a habit of convenience, and the good news is you
can break the habit of distraction in 5 steps:
Have control of your environment. Identify what distracts
you and then get rid of it if you start to feel tempted.
If you need to get some work done it is often a good
idea to turn off the internet for an hour or so. Make
your environment an image of who you are. Your environment
should relate to who you are, what you love, and to
what you deem important in life.
Organize you daily tasks. The biggest procrastination
killer is organization. It simply cannot exist in
an organized life. Break up a large, difficult project
into several smaller pieces. Tackle each piece separately.
Set daily goals. Each day you should set yourself
several goals. Written down goals are somehow more
powerful. Write a list of goals as to what you have
to accomplish today and stick to your list. Make deadlines
for each item on your list.
Get enough sleep. Sleep experts recommend 7-8 hours
on average. When you are tired and fatigued, focusing
can become difficult. You can even become counter-productive
in your efforts to get things done by introducing
mistakes into your work.
Avoid coffee at work. Coffee makes us jittery and
anxious. It is very hard to stay focused when you
have had a few cups of coffee as your body will simply
not let your mind sit still for two seconds. If you
need to drink while you are trying to stay concentrated
it is better to drink green tea, water, milk or something
that has a relaxing effect.
The
more you become aware of your consciousness, the more
you become conscious and aware of your inner powers.
Calmness, peace of mind, creativity, intuition, prosperity
consciousness and happiness are some of results of becoming
conscious and aware of your inner consciousness.
Consciousness
is not beyond our reach. You can open to it at any time,
at least briefly, by looking beyond your thoughts and
relaxing into the clear awareness in which you are.

To
win, I have to perceive victory in my daily actions
I
never get discouraged. The only thing that stands between
me and what I want from life is simply the will to win
it and the belief that it is possible. There is nothing
on earth that I can not have, once I perceive victory
in my daily actions. While I am perceiving victory,
I am winning. Victory is a choice I have to make every
day a winning experience.
1
large uncooked beetroots (get young ones, with smooth
skin and firm flesh)
2
cups of clean mixed greens - lettuce and spinach
1
large avocado (cut into small dices)
3
halves olives (Kalamata olives)
1
ounce of feta cheese (cut into small dices)
1/4
cup dried cranberries
1/2
tablespoon of dried parsley
1
tbsp. light mayonnaise
2
tbsp. plain yogurt
1
tbsp. olive oil
Salt
and pepper to taste
Directions
Trim,
peel, and grate the carrots and beets. (If you own a
food processor with a grater attachment, better for
you!) Place the rest of the main ingredients, in a large
salad bowl, add the grated carrots and beets, and toss
until well combined. Gradually
whisk in oil. Taste and adjust for seasoning.
Taste,
adjust the seasoning, and let stand for 30 minutes,
if you can, before serving: the beets and carrots will
render juices that will make the salad moister.
