Stress
Management Tips & Techniques
By Oswaldo Koch
There
are always events outside ourselves that we can point to as
being the reason for our stress. But doing this won't help.
Instead, we have to take responsibility and manage stress
by appreciating some of the benefits of regular stress:
Stress
Makes You Get Things Done
- Stress can make you more efficient. If you are stressed
out about an office project that you've been procrastinating,
and you're down to the last day. The stress you experience
will make you work harder and faster until you finish the
project. Why? Because stress gives you something to accomplish.
It makes you stay focus on your priorities.
Stress
Enhances Your Body's Defenses - Short-term stress triggers
the production of protective chemicals and increases activity
in immune cells that boost the body's defenses and sharpen
your memory. As a result, your brain and body get a boost.
A quick surge of stress can stave off disease
Stress
Can Save Your Life - Stress can happen in an instant.
If you're about to be hit by car, the stress can save your
life. If you are face-to-face with a bear, you will experience
instant stress. And that's how stress can save your life.
How? Because stress makes you react and move faster. You can
safely dodge the car, or you can run away from the bear.
Stress
Makes You Stay Alert - Stress keeps you on your toes.
It keeps you alert and ready at all times. You need to be
alert to know what's happening around you. For example, if
you're driving in a busy highway with your family, you need
to be alert and ready. Why? Because you would not want to
have an accident knowing your family can be injured.
